Mitsubishi cell efficiency record two world records

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation on February 18, 2010 announced that its poly-silicon photoelectric conversion efficiency of photovoltaic solar cells created two world records, these records by reducing the loss of cell resistance to achieve.

One of world-record third consecutive year of record, so that more than 100 square centimeters of practical size of polycrystalline silicon PV cells reached 19.3% photoelectric conversion efficiency of the photovoltaic cell size of approximately 15cmx15cmx200 microns. With the company’s previous record of 19.1% conversion efficiency compared to increase of 0.2 percentage points.

The second world record for the ultra-thin polycrystalline silicon photovoltaic cells (size about 15cmx15cmx100 microns) preclude the use of the same technology, so that photoelectric conversion efficiency of 18.1%, with the company’s previous record of 17.4% conversion efficiency compared with an increase of 0.7 percentage points .

In addition, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation using three-pronged structure so that 5mmx5mm thin-film photoelectric conversion efficiency of silicon PV cells reached 14.8%, the first layer of thin-film silicon photovoltaic cells to absorb short wavelength, the third layer to absorb longer wavelengths, thus the use of wide - range of solar spectrum, from visible to infrared rays.

In addition, Mitsubishi Electric has developed the largest number in the photovoltaic systems technology to improve power output  Inspiron 700m battery , Inspiron 710m battery , Inspiron 8000 battery , by the new maximum power point tracking (MPPT) photovoltaic inverter system combination to achieve. This technology uses a single PV inverter to work, even in partially shaded PV array, or the dust cover can also be blocked when the maximum power point.

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, this technological breakthrough to make MPPT system can automatically measure the power output characteristics of PV array, and then control the PV array maximum power point in his work, thus ensuring that PV systems from the PV array maximum acceptable power output. In some cases, and set up compared to the conventional MPPT system, this technology will enable the power output to double.

Valentine’s Day party that’s love at first sight

To love and be loved is the greatest joy on earth. So this year on Valentine’s Day, celebrate those you hold dear by honoring them with a soiree that is so romantic and glamorous it will make their hearts jump.

SENSATIONAL STATIONS: I’m crazy about formal dinner parties because I adore beautifully set tables and lingering at the table for hours, enjoying the company of good friends. But if you’d like to invite more friends to your Valentine’s Day party than your table can hold, Latitude D830 battery , Latitude D520 battery , Latitude D600 battery or if you’d like guests to mix and mingle throughout the event, create several serving stations throughout your home.

For instance, I like to greet guests at the door with a cocktail, so I place a butler’s cart in my foyer to hold drink fixings and stemware. Why not do the same thing at your party? Top a cart or small table with a silver or crystal punch bowl filled with ice and bubbly, like Champagne or Prosecco. Place a silver tray next to your stylish ice bucket to hold Champagne flutes.

Serve savory appetizers on your dining-room table. On the coffee table in the living room, create a tempting display with dessert servers in all heights, each one filled with decadent sweets. Use a side table or desk in the family room to hold red wine, imported cheeses and slices of artisan breads.

DO IT UP BIG: Valentine’s isn’t complete without fresh flowers. So create a showstopping bouquet for your entry table, dining-room table or buffet. Fill a black iron urn with flowers like white stargazer lilies, hydrangeas, red berries, red roses and winter greens. Then fill silver cups with compact bouquets of red rose buds, and tuck them into displays throughout your home.

Bring out your nicest silver and crystal serving pieces and dishes to create food presentations that are second to none. On your dining-room table or at each food station, harness the power of risers to elevate your tasty treats to new levels. For a fetching dessert presentation, place a coconut-dusted white meringue cake atop a glass cake plate. Next to it, display vanilla cupcakes and white chocolate-covered cookies on different-sized tall glass risers covered with cloches. Or fill a trio of apothecary jars with candies like white gumdrops, MM165 , WW116 ,NF343 red-hots or conversation hearts.

Finish off your party décor by bringing in loads of sparkling accents and candlelight. Festoon your front porch with lanterns outfitted with battery-operated pillar candles. Sprinkle votives throughout all your food displays. Add silver candelabras and mercury-glass candlesticks to your tables. Use silver gazing balls to give displays added shimmer and shine.

UTILIZE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE: When you throw a party, it seems like there’s never enough room in the refrigerator to hold all the food and beverages. So a few years ago, I solved this dilemma by putting chilled foods on my screened porch when I entertained during the winter, arranging them beautifully so they looked lovely while they waited to be used.

If you live in a cold climate, utilize your outdoor space during your Valentine’s Day party, creating a functional and stylish display just outside the window that guests will enjoy looking at. Give your porch a quick cleanup, then cover your outdoor table with a white linen cloth. Then make the table display a thing of art, topping it with a large cachepot filled with bottles of bubbly, Y4367 , Y4546 , Y9943  beer, water or soda. Put desserts on cake plates and risers, protecting them with glass cloches. For added fun, illuminate your chilly display with strands of white lights, or use a large lantern, filled with a battery-operated candle, as your centerpiece

New technology extends lithium-ion battery life

A Japanese company called Eamex claims it has found a way [JP] to increase the life of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries (that can be used in electric vehicles). Eamex says the new batteries can be charged and discharged over 10,000 times. Apparently, they can last about 20 years, too.

The main idea is to stabilize the electrodes and prevent the deterioration of tin, making the batteries withstand repeated charges. The batteries  Sony VGP-BPS9/B , Sony VGP-BPS9A , Sony VGP-BPS9A/B have a negative electrode that incorporates a tin-coated resin and accumulates lithium ions coming from the positive electrode. The positive electrode is made of silicon and tin and swells while generating the ions.

As a result, the repeated charging and discharging causes the binding between particles in the tin to weaken, but Eamex’s technology helps to effectively maintain the bonding among those particles.

The company says it plans to introduce a lithium-ion battery with a power density of 10,000 W/kg by the end of this year. The battery could be used to power electric scooters, for example. Eamex also claims batteries based on their technology have “extremely positive” cost effects (without giving specific details), which isn’t hard to believe given their lifespan.

Li Ka-shing invests in the lithium battery

Jia Sheng Holdings Limited issued a notification January 26, claiming that it will pay 2.75 billion Hong Kong dollars to acquire the rights and interests of Union Grace Holdings Limited. This indicates that Jia Sheng Holdings has begun developing electric vehicles and lithium batteries GK479 , FK890  . In addition, Jia Sheng Holdings will sell 400 million shares to Li Ka-shing at a discounted price of 18.9 percent.

On January 26, the stock price of Jia Sheng Holdings reached its highest point of 1.57 Hong Kong dollars during the morning session and closed sharply higher during the afternoon session, with a growth rate of 62.22 percent. Jia Sheng Holdings stock price rose by 10 times in 2 months starting from December 1, 2009 after the company announced at the end of last year that it would acquire Thunder Sky Energy to extend its presence into the new-energy market.

Li Ka-shing’s obtainment of Jia Sheng Holding shares and entry into the electric vehicle market reminds people of Buffett’s investment in a lithium battery company. Of course, it is not only 2 capital giants who are investing in the lithium battery sector. Winston Chung, president of Sky Energy, has also invested a record 30 billion Hong Kong dollars in an electric vehicle project last year.

According to Feng Shun, a researcher from Xiangcai Securities, the possibility of huge development in the electric vehicle and lithium battery industries is the reason why the above-mentioned capital giants want to invest in the industries. At present, if 1 unit of lithium battery can power a mobile phone, then nearly 10,000 units of such lithium batteries can power an electric vehicle. That is to say, if electric vehicles can be widely popularized, a huge lithium battery market will appear. Feng Shun said, “If we sell 10 million motor vehicles per year, and 0.1 percent of these vehicles are electric, the number of China’s electric vehicle users will increase by 10,000 every year, creating a lithium battery demand of 100 million units.”

Feng stated, “Development of the mobile phone and notebook computer markets allowed the lithium battery sector’s compound annual growth rate to reach 25 percent over the past 5 years. It is not difficult to maintain the growth rate in the future if the electric vehicle market can expand rapidly.”

GOP says Ohio governor is taking too much credit

The content of Gov. Ted Strickland’s State of the State speech has quickly become fodder for the upcoming election fight.

Republican John Kasich, challenging Strickland’s fall re-election bid, after hours Tuesday recorded and distributed a video message that criticized the Democratic governor for doing too little and taking credit for too much.

“While he tried to paint Ohio in the best possible light, laptop battery a large part of public service is not what you promise for the future, it’s what you did when your hands were on the wheel,” Kasich said.

Strickland, in the last State of the State address of his four-year term, gushed affection and respect for his ailing state and pledged to “move heaven and earth to create jobs” with a modest  Latitude D505 battery of new initiatives that cost little money.

Acknowledging that “yes, we have been knocked down,” Strickland said “the state of the state is unyielding” amid the economic downturn, which has led to a 10.9 percent unemployment rate and shown little sign of recovery.

“Ohio will rise again,” he vowed Tuesday before the packed House chamber. “Because there isn’t a single thing wrong with Ohio that can’t be fixed by what’s right with Ohio.”

Strickland, who’s dealing with falling approval ratings as he fights for re-election in November, promised things would improve thanks to the state’s history of invention and innovation.

“I believe in Ohio because we will invest in the things we do exceptionally well,” Strickland said. “And we will create jobs.”

New spending programs are typically a hallmark of a governor’s annual address to lawmakers, but Strickland has been hobbled by lagging state revenues and a promise not to raise taxes. The best he could do was a $40 million investment in green energy technologies funded largely with federal dollars.

He wants the state to pursue a biorefinery that converts food grown in Ohio into biopolymers used in products Inspiron 6400 battery , Inspiron E1505 battery  such as toothbrushes and cell phones.

“There will come a day when Ohio will be the undisputed home of advanced energy,” Strickland said. “A day when we cast off those two tired words that have been used to put us down: Rust Belt. Because that’s not who we are.”

Other efforts he advanced require few additional resources. They include creating a business lending gateway to link businesses seeking working capital with bankers willing to lend, reducing taxes on new solar and wind energy generation, designating Ohio’s eight largest urban areas as hub cities in their strongest industries and reducing red tape for companies doing business in the state.

The governor also announced a new partnership between Ohio’s public universities and consumer products manufacturer Procter & Gamble Co. to help university researchers bring products to market faster. And he proposed a plan to improve access to state-grown food to boost rural jobs and make more healthy food available.

Republican lawmakers said many of the positive developments Strickland claimed in his speech began with their ideas. That included the Third Frontier high-tech initiative, started under his Republican predecessor, Bob Taft, and tougher standards for public education.

“It sounds like what the governor has done is rename programs and rehash them,” said state Rep. Lou Blessing, R-Cincinnati.

Democratic House Speaker Armond Budish said he thought Strickland’s speech helped the governor’s re-election effort.

“I believe the more the governor communicates about what he has done, and the more we communicate about what we have done, the public will respond,” Budish said. “The governor has a lot of great accomplishments to talk about.”

Brian Rothenberg, executive director of the liberal group ProgressOhio.com, suggested the upcoming election had an impact on reaction to Tuesday’s speech.

“Three years ago, the very same speech would have been met with bipartisan applause,” he said. “But it’s election year, Inspiron 1525 battery , Inspiron 1526 battery and the toxic quest for power has changed Ohio’s Statehouse.”

Fujitsu Notebooks

In 2009 we reviewed more than 130 notebooks and netbooks, rating each according to design, performance, usability and more. We usually focus on individual systems, but over time we’ve been able to identify trends based on the vendor. Now it’s Fujitsu’s turn in the spotlight. Evaluating this brand is somewhat difficult because we only received three systems from the vendor in 2009. Though we don’t have a huge sample to work with, we were still able to glean some insights when considering the notebooks in relation to each other and the competition. Check out Fujitsu’s strengths and weaknesses then sound off in the comments and tell us what you think of the brand and about your own experiences. Without your input, our report card will be incomplete.
Strengths
Fujitsu’s focus is mainly on business notebooks. Though we only saw one in 2009 — the multitouch, convertible LifeBook T4410 tablet – the average star rating for those we saw in 2008 was 3.5, the same rating the T4410 received. Overall the business systems we’ve seen are solid performers, FPCBP121 , FPCBP121AP and last year’s offering also pleased us by being affordable for a tablet.

The two touch-enabled systems we saw last year both offered a good experience when working with our fingers and the stylus. It was also nice to see Fujitsu catching up a bit with the competition and introducing multitouch in their full-size tablet convertible.

Weaknesses
Though the company produces solid, decent notebooks, we’re rarely wowed by them. The three systems we saw last year had some good qualities but nothing that made them stand out from the crowd in their respective categories.

We were also disappointed that the laptops were behind the curve in terms of features and functionality. The M2010 netbook looked nice and performed well yet had a sub-par keyboard and tragically short battery life. Given that netbooks from 2008 were able to best Fujitsu’s 2009 offering in these areas (not to mention on price) this was a disappointing showing at best.

Fujitsu has also been a bit behind the curve when it comes from design. While other business notebooks were updating their looks with new colors and brushed metal cases, making the T4410 looked a bit dated.

Report Card
The M2010 netbook received the lowest star rating of the three: 2.5. The LifeBook U820 mini notebook is next with 3 stars, and the Fujitsu Lifebook T4010  notched the highest with 3.5. Fujitsu received a decent grade of B- in our Tech Support Showdown, way up from a grade of D+ in 2008.

Last year Fujitsu’s US notebook division updated 24 of its existing models and released 9 new platforms. At CES the company announced eight new LifeBook laptops and tablets for the coming year. With super-fast USB 3.0 around the corner and the inclusion of Core i5 and i7 chips in the newest crop, we’re hoping that Fujitsu will be able to distinguish itself in the market in the coming months.

Now It’s Your Turn
Do you own a Fujitsu laptop? Owned one in the recent past? What does Fujitsu get right and where does the company need improvement? Tell us how you’d grade Fujitsu and explain why in the comments.

Obama and his to-do list

Also on the rise: the few Republican moderates left in Congress, the tea party movement and, paradoxically, both legislative stalling and dealmaking.

Losers? Just have a glance at President Barack Obama’s swollen to-do list. Instead of checking off his planned health care overhaul, climate legislation, energy priorities, judicial appointments and more, he might have to cross some off.

A compendium of winners and losers after Republican Scott Brown won the Massachusetts Senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy on Tuesday:

WINNER: GOP moderates and Maine.

Maine moves closer to the center of the political universe  PA3285U-2BRS , PA3285U-3BRS ,PA3356U-1BAS , thanks to its two moderate Republican senators and their likely clout.

Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins are sure to be courted hard, if not on health care, then on other legislation. It’s a strong position to be in and one they know how to use to advantage.

Snowe was the only Republican senator to vote for any version of health care legislation, but Democrats patched together the necessary 60 votes without her to move the bill along. Now they’re short.

LOSER: Obama.

Obama might be able to salvage a health care overhaul of some sort. It’s a big if. Beyond that, other big-ticket items are in jeopardy, and so are smaller ones. It’s difficult to see where he gets the political capital to fulfill promises on letting gays serve openly in the armed forces, for example.

To be sure, Democrats still control Congress. D5318, G5266, HD438 And if Republicans overplay their new hand, voters can take retribution against them in the fall and restore the primacy of Obama’s agenda.

Gator football player held on charges of battery

Bond was set at $40,000 Tuesday for former University of Florida football player Wondy Pierre-Louis after he was charged with choking a girlfriend, according to court records.

The former Gators cornerback turned himself in at the Alachua County jail early Tuesday. He appeared in court later Tuesday,  Inspiron 6400 battery , Inspiron 640m battery  along with the victim, who disputed the claims made in a Gainesville police report.

The victim initially told police that on Sunday morning Pierre-Louis kicked in the door to her apartment, pinned her against a bathroom countertop and choked her. Later, the report said, he threw her down on a bed and began choking her with his shirt. She was not injured.

A man who was at the apartment with the victim fled unharmed, the report said.

Records list felony charges of domestic battery by strangulation, burglary, false imprisonment and obstructing justice, and a misdemeanor count of battery.

The report said Pierre-Louis and the woman have previously lived together and have been dating off and on for about the past year.

State attorney’s office spokesman Spencer Mann said the victim disputing the claims now won’t change the investigation and charging decision.

Pierre-Louis, recently completed his senior season but has not graduated, was still at the Alachua County jail Tuesday afternoon, a spokesman said. Pierre-Louis’ attorney, Amy Osteryoung,  Inspiron 700m battery did not return a call.

Pierre-Louis is a native of Haiti. His parents survived last week’s earthquake, but their family home was destroyed.

Apple has event on January 27

Uh oh for HP. After making a fairly big splash with their new slate PC, announced at Microsoft’s big CES keynote, HP has been riding fairly high with interest in what they are going to be coming out with proper. However, there is a fairly big chance that local Silicon Valley opponent Apple is going to steal their thunder right out from underneath them. Apple has announced an event for January 27, where all signs have pointed to the release of an Apple tablet computer, probably in direct competition with the the Slate on HP’s end. Oh, and some new Mac OS updates an iPhone updates. I’d be lying if Ididn’t say that I’m very interested in seeing what Apple has up their sleeve, so like everyone else, January 27 is going to be an interesting day.
